How does
your media magazine represent particular social groups?
My music magazine represents different social media groups in
the modern day community. The two main social media groups are 16 to 21-year olds
and Males.
My magazine is part of the rap and hip hop genre, the
magazine features rap and hip hop
artists on the cover, rap and hip hop music itself is aimed at teenagers and
young adults ages 16-21. There is also
an artist that is on the front cover
that is a young hip hop artist, with the cover line young talent, this shows
that I have portrayed the artists positively. This may then attract 16 to 21
year olds because they may want how someone close to their age is successful
and talented the way I have portrayed them
In my music magazine, I have featured only male artists. I
have also used a masculine colour scheme for the magazine which is red, black
and white. Moreover I have used masculine words on the cover line like 'BOSS'
also the masthead 'RAW' is masculine and aggressive. I have done this because I
feel like rap and hip hop is mainly aimed for young males.
My magazine features only black male artist on the cover
lines and in the images, I have represented them in a positive way through the
cover lines and images. For example K-herb who is an artist featured on the
cover has the cover line ' young talent' and the image of the young black
artist on the contents page is dressed up and looks cool. I have done this
because yet again I feel rap and hip hop is mostly aimed at young black males
